In a world full of quick fixes, crash diets, and fleeting motivation, it’s easy to forget that our bodies aren’t just tools for performance — they’re gifts to be stewarded well.
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to view exercise as just another task on a to-do list — something we should do to lose weight, look better, or manage stress. But what if we reframed fitness entirely?
What if we saw exercise not as a chore… but as an act of stewardship? Sure PR's and aesthetics are an awesome by-product of exercise, but I believe fitness is about more than that. It’s about purposeful movement, intentional discipline, and honoring the body God gave us.
To “steward” something means to care for it wisely and faithfully. It’s about being responsible with what you’ve been entrusted — whether it’s your time, talents, or, yes, your body.
Scripture tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are not our own — we were bought at a price. That means how we treat our bodies matters. Movement, strength, rest, nutrition — they’re not just physical practices. They’re spiritual disciplines.
Too often, exercise is viewed through a lens of guilt or punishment. But when we shift our perspective to one of gratitude and stewardship, the entire experience changes.
Being a good steward doesn’t mean being perfect. It means being intentional. It’s not about hitting the gym every day without fail or eating flawlessly 100% of the time. It’s about doing the best you can, with what you have, where you are — and trusting that those small, consistent efforts add up to something meaningful.
When we approach fitness with the mindset of stewardship, the gym becomes more than a place to sweat. It becomes a place to grow in character. It becomes a place where we push past excuses, build resilience, and offer up our effort as a form of worship.
As Colossians 3:23 reminds us:
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”
Every rep, every workout, every drop of sweat can be done with purpose.
So whether you're new to CrossFit or you've been in it for years — remember why you’re here. You’re not just chasing a number on a scale or a weight on a bar. You’re taking care of a gift. You’re becoming stronger for the life you're called to live.
Let’s keep showing up. Let’s keep working hard. Let’s steward our health — together.
